Boston University has recently adapted its film programs to suit the online streaming age. Students now tend to write, produce and direct ‘micro’ series rather than the traditional film school shorts. Working to improve cross-departmental cooperation and collaboration has also become a priority for the school. This year the screenwriting faculty will partner with production faculty to develop screenwriters’ written projects for production and in turn, provide production students with strong screenplay content to work with. Students have access to all the resources they need to hone their craft guided by a passionate and knowledgeable faculty.
Boston University also offers an internship program for students allowing them to study and work in Los Angeles, spending time in the heart of the film and television industries. Notable alumni of Boston University include the current Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, Jim Gianopulos, director Jennifer Getzinger and the Safdie brothers who started Red Bucket Films while students there. Numerous actors have trained at Boston University too including Paul Michael Glaser, Jason Alexander, Julianne Moore, Faye Dunaway, and Marisa Tomei.
