Continuing our Film Ally search for funding sources, we discovered, as the Grant title states, a Fund available to projects crafted by women or are about women. Grants are awarded to filmmakers in both long and short formats be it animated, documentary, experimental or narrative. Application criteria include completion of 90% of principal photography, with a rough cut available for screening at the time of your submission. It is not necessary to be a member of Women in Film to apply for funding and qualified submissions are open to film contributors from all over the world. In support of this initiative, Stella Artois continues to play a major funding role with a $100,000 grant for women filmmakers divided into four $25,000 grants that inspire social change.
Films with a social action theme based on water get special attention during the selection process. We also discovered that ‘Women in Film Finishing Fund’ has a general fund with grants available from $1,000 up to $20,000 per project. At the beginning of 2019, 9 Grants were selected from 390 submissions covering 22 countries that met the production criteria of by or about women. Previous recipients of the Women in Film Finishing Fund has won Peabody, Berlin Film Festival, Sundance, Emmy, and even an Academy Award. Film Ally is proud to include ‘Women in Film Finishing Fund’ in our financing mix of funding sources.
