This Grant program champions the production and distribution of podcasts, radio, television and documentary films that engage general audiences. Projects must be humanitarian-centric while showing a creative approach that is analytical, thoughtful, and balanced. Your work needs to stimulate reflection and explore a larger significance far beyond a series of facts. We support the creation of media projects that give audiences a better understanding of our American culture and our history. At NEH, we endorse examination of Global themes and cultural humanities with a desire to present projects for a wide range of audiences.
Television and Film projects can be either a series or a ‘one of’ production but content-wise, must address significant people, ideas that have an impact, and big or small events that help shape our world. Programs can be regional or national in distribution and should have run times longer than a half-hour. For producers working in Radio or Podcasts, grants are available for a single project, segments in a continuing series, or a limited series. This work can be viewed via broadcast, cable or online and can be regional or national in its distribution. All projects must be grounded in humanities scholarship and demonstrate an approach that is thoughtful, balanced, and analytical.
